This story is just sad on so many levels. I am sure these missionaries relied on their faith and thought that they were doing the right thing. Unfortunately, their careless disregard for the rule of law and the dignity of the Haitian people bred the arrogance that led to the difficult situation in which they find themselves. I hope they are returned safely and that the situation is used as teachable moment of what not to do when training mission people. I also hope the Haitian people understand that although they are in dire straights the last thing christians want to do is break up even more families.
